Bayonetta 2 to star in next Nintendo Direct

Big news about the game that many Wii U owners have been frantically waiting for could be nearly upon us.

The creator of cult franchise Bayonetta, Hideki Kamiya, has said on Twitter that those waiting for more information about Bayonetta 2 should check out Nintendo’s upcoming Nintendo Direct, currently scheduled for June 11th.

Bayonetta 2 was named as a Wii U exclusive in September of last year.

While a critical hit, the first game was far from a commercial success but its commitment to Wii U was very much seen as a call to action for Nintendo, proving its renewed focus on the core games market.

In fact, developer Platinum later revealed that the game would not be in production at all were it not for Nintendo’s backing.
