Black Nintendo 3DS XL confirmed for North America, launches this month

Nintendo has announced a black 3DS XL model is heading to retail in US and Canada this month – officially confirming last week’s advertisement leak for the handheld.

While the listed release date on the ad of July 26th was incorrect, the new color (at least to those stateside) will indeed be added to the current line-up of 3DS devices.

The black version was also spotted in a recent Mario & Luigi Dream Team commercial, and as it turns out it will arrive on the same day as the game – though no bundling of any sort between the two.

Nintendo’s latest offering in its 3DS line hits shelves August 11th, retailing at $199.99.
