Brett Ratner producing Tetris origin film – report

Filmmaker Brett Ratner is reportedly producing a film based on Tetris creator Alexy Pajitnov.

According toTracking Board, Pajitnov will be the subject of a feature-length biopic produced by Ratner – known for directing X-Men: The Last Stand and Rush Hour. The report further states the film appears to draw comparison to David Fincher’s The Social Network.

The movie will cover the creation of the game, as well as the controversial trial between Nintendo and Pajitnov over the title’s rights. Pajitnov would eventually lose, Nintendo would go on to sell Tetris with every Game Boy sold in the US, and it wouldn’t be until 1996 that the game’s creator saw any of those profits.

No word on a premiere date as of this time.
