Crashing reports follow Mass Effect 3 patch

As sure as night follows day, reports of problems have followed the release of a new patch for Mass Effect 3.

Eurogamer reports that the Xbox 360 version appears to be particularly effected, although some PS3 users have also reported problems.

The main issue appears to be an inability to access BioWare’s ME3 servers, meaning that the game hangs on the title screen and never progresses to the menu.

There have also been reports of frozen consoles needing a hard reset to restart.

BioWare has said that it is aware of the issue” and is investigating the problem.

The patch brought with it some free content for the multiplayer segment of the game, including a new map and new characters. It also addressed the face import bug that prevented some users carrying over their Shepherd character from Mass Effect 2.

Indeed, this author can confirm that he had trouble accessing Mass Effect 3 PS3 multiplayer last night and was unable to access weapons and accessories packs purchased with both in-game coins and PSN credit.
