DSi trumps DS Light pre-orders

High Street giant GAME has revealed that DSi pre-orders are more than doubled that achieved by DS Lite.

The firm has cited the success of its trade-in offer, which allows customers to buy a DSi for half price if they trade in another machine. And the company has confirmed reports that there is plenty of stock to go around, with consoles still available for consumers to buy over the launch weekend.

We’ve worked very hard with Nintendo to create a high impact campaign on high streets and in shopping centres all over the UK, so customers will be very aware of the launch,” said GAME marketing director Anna Macario.

There will be a lot of activity in our stores to help customers upgrade to the DSi, and get some great deals and products at the same time.”

Sources close to Nintendo have also told MCV that the DSi’s pre-order rate is over three times that of the DS Lite.
