E3 2010: Animal Crossing heading to 3DS

A new Animal Crossing title could be one of the first titles to be announced for Nintendo’s 3DS.

That’s according to Destructoid’s sources, who claim that Nintendo has been using a 3D demo of the game to pitch the new handheld to developers and publishers. It is rumoured to be one of the titles announced at Nintendo’s E3 press conference next week.

The Animal Crossing series has proven to be popular around the world, allowing players to explore and customise their own town that develops in real time. The DS version, Animal Crossing: Wild World, was particularly successful, having sold more than 9.5 million copies worldwide.

When contacted by the blog, Nintendo stated it does not comment on rumours or speculation”.
