EVE Online FPS in the works?

CCP, the developer of popular online PC space adventure series EVE Online has hinted that an FPS based on the franchise is in the works – and could be heading to consoles.

Eurogamer reports that in a recent press briefing CCP bosses Hilmar Petursson and Nathan Richardsson spoke of a game console strategy”, with specific mentions of both the Xbox 360 and PS3 appearing on the conference screen.

In addition, the studio showed footage of a Halo-like” first person shooter set on an Earth-like planet. Though no specific details of the project were given, the pair assured the crowd that CCP has some other tricks” up its sleeve aside from its upcoming MMO World of Darkness.

It has been confirmed today that Atari has struck a deal with CCP to publish a boxed retail version of EVE Online in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.
