Former Nintendo lead Howard Phillips joins casual game studio Gameduell

Industry veteran Howard Phillips has joined casual game company Gameduell as its head of game design and user experience.

Phillips is expected to help oversee Gameduell’s social and mobile game development projects.

The industry veeteran is best known for his time leading Nintendo’s North American operations during the 1980’s – having produced RC Pro-Am and other titles, as well as helping launch Nintendo Power magazine and the company’s ‘Fun Club.’

He left Nintendo in 1991, but has remained active in games ever since, working in key roles for companies including Microsoft, LucasArts and Chair Entertainment. He also put together an ultimately unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign for an educational mobile game in 2012.
