Gearbox excited about next-gen projects

Gearbox has plenty in the present to smile about with Borderlands 2, but that doesn’t mean the company isn’t excited about what it has in the works going forward.

We’ve got a few things going on right now that we haven’t talked about but that’ll appear later,” company president Randy Pitchford told Gamasutra.

Pitchford shared his thoughts on the excitement of going beyond where the industry currently finds itself, stating that it’s a combination of hardware and software iteration along with invention that ends up paving the way forward.

I’m always excited by movement forward,” Pitchford stated. Some of that comes from iteration with our software, and some of it comes from iteration with hardware, and some of it comes from invention… each new step kind of gives us new tools and new capabilities that always makes the entertainment better, if we use it right.

More power is always better. There’s always things we can do that we cannot do today that we can do with more power. So, that’s always true.”

Pitchford added that he did see motion controltech moving toward full-body control at some point, but found the current options uninteresting and confusing in regards to where they can go from here.

Borderlands 2 launches next month.
