Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has struck a deal with the BBC that will see episodes of the massively popular Top Gear series available to download as part of GT5’s GT TV media service.
40 episodes chronicling Clarkson, May and Hammond’s vehicular exploits will be made available through the service, whilst Sony’s game is also set to feature as a regular part of the show’s Test Track section.
"We at Polyphony are great fans of the world’s best motoring programme, Top Gear, so we’re delighted to be collaborating with BBC Worldwide to deliver Top Gear content via Gran Turismo,” Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi stated.
Gran Turismo has featured on the motoring show before, when Clarkson compared his time racing a real Honda NSX around the Californian Laguna Seca racing track to the time he was able to achieve racing the same vehicle on the same track in PS2 title Gran Turismo 4.
He was faster in the game, incidentally, despite his insistence on using the d-pad instead of the analogue stick. Imagine how quick he could have been if he’s wielded the joypad properly!
