New 3DS getting additional cover plate options in April

Nintendo has confirmed that it will release a selection of eight new cover plates for the New 3DS in early.

April 2nd will see the release of designs featuring red and green Toad, Kirby, Pikachu, a number of alternative colours and a dot pattern.

There are currently around a dozen or so official 3DS cover plate designs available, with retailers charging between 13 and 20 a piece. Existing options include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and a range of colours and patterns.

Swappable cover plates are only available for the New 3DS and not its bigger brother, the New 3DS XL.
