NINTENDO: 3D movie support for 3DS

Nintendo’s 3DS has charged out the gate at E3 – it already boasts major support from Hollywood studios working on 3D movies.

Disney and Dreamworks are the first on board.

Their movies Tangled and How to Train Your Dragon will be released for the device – presumably at retail – for the device.

It’s a big coup for Nintendo – so far static 3D movie content is restricted to cinemas, some TV broadcasts, and a few DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Glasses are not needed to view the content on screen, either.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said: "This is the first time any such 3D content has been demonstrated without the need to wear glasses."

It’s also, it seems, one of the first times such content will be commercially available for a mobile device.
