Nintendo prevails again in Wii Remote patent lawsuit

Nintendo has won yet another patent battle over its Wii Remote technology, the company has announced.

Earlier this month, a federal appeals court upheld the ruling that a patent asserted against Nintendo by Triton Tech of Texas is invalid.

The suit was originally filed by TToT in 2010, and later dismissed by Judge Richard A. Jones of the Seattle district court – after ruling that the company’s patent did not adequately describe a complete invention.

"We are very pleased with this result. Nintendo has a long tradition of developing unique and innovative products, while respecting the intellectual property rights of others,” Nintendo of America’s deputy general counsel Richard Medway stated.

Nintendo continues to aggressively defend itself against patent trolls. After many years of litigation, the decision today reflects an appropriate resolution of this case."
