NINTENDO: Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U

Nintendo is working on not one, but two new versions of its popular fighting game, Super Smash Bros.

During the firm’s E3 press conference, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata announced that new instalments in the series are being developed for both 3DS and the newly-announced Wii U console.

The games will be developed by Masahiro Sakurai – creator of Kirby and the Smash Bros series – and his team at Project Sora, the studio behind upcoming 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Iwata also promised that the two games would have some form of cross-platform functionality.

No date was given for the titles, but Iwata warned that this was a long-term project for the future.
