Nintendo World Championships return for E3 2015

The Nintendo World Championships – last held in 1990 – will be making a comeback at E3 2015, Nintendo of America has announced.

The company revealed the news as part of its E3 plans. Nintendo fans can compete for a spot in the Championships on May 30th at select Best Buy stores around the US.

Winners will join competitors selected by Nintendo for a multi-round competition at the Los Angeles Convention Center-adjacent Nokia Theatre on Sunday, June 14th. The event will be streamed live online and fans will have the opportunity to attend the finals in-person.

Nintendo is also planning a digital event on Tuesday, June 16th at 9am Pacific, and Mario Maker demo stations will be available at Best Buy throughout the week of E3. The company promises more details in the coming weeks.
