Pokemon X and Y – The real UK No.1

Pokemon X and Y would have been the real UK No.1, if sales of the games were combined.

UK stat tracker Chart-Track lists both games separately, with Pokemon Y at No.3 and Pokemon X at No.4, behind FIFA 14 in second place and GTA V at No.1.

But if both games’ sales were combined together – which perhaps they should be – then Pokemon would have been Nintendo’s first No.1 of the year, by quite a long way.

The title is comfortably the 3DS’ best-selling game of the year, eclipsing Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

The game was due to arrive on Saturday, but pretty much every retailer started selling the game on Friday after a series of street date breaks from UK stores. GAME even received permission to sell the game ahead of release. Which would have helped the game secure a few extra sales.
