PopCap working on new console title

PopCap is working on a new game for consoles, according to the company’s franchise marketing manager Gary Clay.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Clay confirmed the studio is working on a new title for consoles – adding that the game in question isn’t necessarily” a new IP.

VG247 keenly points out PopCap was recently in the market for a new generalist software engineer with experience working with the Frostbite 2 engine” for a AAA console title,” so perhaps there’s a correlation.

The marketing manager added that the studio now has dedicated teams for both mobile, as well as PC and console efforts.

PopCap is now structured in the way we have standard PopCap mobile development and then PopCap HD, which is entirely focused on bringing games to PC and console,” he explained.

Clay also revealed Peggle 2 updates and ports for other platforms are in development as well.

We’re working on Peggle 2, and we’re working on updates for Peggle 2 and looking at bringing that to other platforms in future, and new IP as well. So expect to see a lot more from PopCap HD coming forward.”
