Rock Band and Star Trek join forces

Harmonix-owning MTV Games and movie studio paramount Pictures have announced a deal that will see EA’s music game join the Star Trek party ahead of the release of the new movie on May 8th.

Players can from today register for a 15-day sweepstake to win 500 free downloads from the Rock Band Music Store on both Xbox Live and PSN later this month. Also scheduled is a Star Trek themed Battle of the Bands, with winners getting free tickets to a screening of the movie.

The end of the month will also see an avatar creation contest, with futuristic creations fighting to win a spot amongst the crew of the Enterprise.
