Super Smash Bros works with New 3DS c-stick but not Circle Pad Pro

Upcoming 3DS title Super Smash Bros will offer additional functionality on the ‘New 3DS’ and ‘New 3DS XL’.

Joystiq reports that the game will support the additional c-stick found on the recently revealed hardware. However, it won’t work with the Circle Pad Pro expansion currently available for existing 3DS machines.

The info comes from Nintendo’s Japanese support pages, as translated by NeoGaf.

If correct it reinforces fears of a fragmentation of the 3DS market caused by the introduction of a second stick, additional buttons and more CPU oomph in the new handhelds.

Nintendo has already confirmed that upcoming title Xenoblade Chronicles will only be compatible with the ‘New’ devices and not current 3DS models.

New 3DS and New 3DS XL is due out in Japan on October 11th but won’t arrive in the West this side of Christmas.
