VIDEO: Ikaruga designer behind new 3DS shooter

A new 2D shooter from the designer of cult shmup Ikaruga has been confirmed for Nintendo’s 3DS.

Called Kokuga, it will be released in Japan on September 7th, Andriasang reports. It is being developed by G-Rev.

Chief amongst its features is the capacity for up to four players to engage in multiplayer gaming from a single cartridge.

Hiroshi Iuchi’s impressive portfolio includes 2D shooters Radiant Silvergun, Gradius V and, of course, cult Treasure hit Ikaruga, as well as the likes of Gunstar Heroes and Sin and Punishment.
