Video: New Wii U and NX Zelda is called Breath of the Wild

The long-awaited new entry in the Zelda franchise has finally been given a name.

Dubbed ‘Breath of the Wild’, this game in Nintendo’s long-running franchise is set for both the Wii U and the company’s new NX console.

The title’s name was announced yesterday at the start of a Nintendo Treehouse live-stream.

Breath of the Wild was originally announced for Wii U in a Nintendo Direct in January 2013. At E3 2014, the company confirmed a 2015 release date for the game – the title then missed this, with a delay announced in March 2015 until 2016.

But in April of this year, it was announced that the title would be launching for simultaneously both the Wii U and NX, and as suchthat the game would be delayed until 2017.

Three amiibo figures for the upcoming game were announced too: one of Archer Link and another one of Link on horseback. The third is for the Guardian – that tentacled creature seen chasing Link in previous trailers for the game.
