Wii U Virtual Console hits North America, Europe launch imminent

Nintendo has announced the Wii U Virtual Console has launched in North America.

Launch titles include a handful of NES games for $4.99 (Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong Jr., Excitebike, Kirby’s Adventure, and Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream), and a couple of SNES games (Super Mario Bros. and F-Zero) for $7.99.

The feature arrives five months after the hardware’s initial launch. Nintendo has promised more titles, including the classic Earthbound, will arrive for the platform via the eShop soon.

The Virtual Console is expected to go live for Wii U consoles in Europe sometime later today.
