Computing giant says fee allows users to install game from disc and onto their account

Xbox One gets pre-owned game fees

Xbox One users will likely have to pay an extra fee to play pre-owned games, Microsoft has confirmed.

As reported by Wired, games can be installed from a disc and directly onto the console’s hard drive, meaning users will not have to insert the disc again after.

A statement from Microsoft suggested that it may be a mandatory requirement to install each game from the disc.

“On the new Xbox, all game discs are installed to the HDD to play,” said a spokesperson.

Microsoft then confirmed that users of a pre-owned game will have to pay a fee to gain access to the title if it had already been installed on another console so they could use it on their own account.

It is unclear however, that if such a fee is introduced, how much that will cost.
