CSGO Lotto YouTubers face lawsuit

The loss of credibility and a stern telling off from the FTC may be the least of TmarTn and ProSyndicate’s problems.

Polygon reports that a lawsuit has been filed by a parent on behalf of their child, alleging that both Counter Strike creator Valve and both Trevor Martin and Tom Cassell have encouraged the development of a child-targeted illegal weapon skin gambling scene.

CSGO Lotto is just one of many sites involved in the business, but thus far litigation remains aimed squarely at Valve and the two YouTubers at the centre of the scandal.

The second suit, previously covered by Polygon, was raised by Connecticut resident Michael McLeod, accuses Valve of "knowingly allowed, supported, and/or sponsored illegal gambling by allowing millions of Americans to link their individual Steam accounts to third- party websites".

Valve has thus far remained silent on the issue.

Martin, however, has remained anything but silent. Among his attempts to placate fans he has also insisted that CSGO Lotto never intentionally targeted minors and argued that his fan base is predominantly comprised of over 18s.

The Counter Strike betting sector won revenues estimated to be in the region of $2.3bn in 2015.
