Dark Souls developer From Software acquired by Famitsu owner Kadokawa

Japanese publisher Kadokawa has acquired the studio behind cult action RPG series Dark Souls.

Siliconera reports that Kadokawa, which owns Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, will next month take control of 80 per cent of From Software, ending the developer’s previous spell of independence.

From CEO Naotoshi Zin says that the move will enable both parties to expand platforms [to] everything from simple hardware to cloud networks” and better target international audiences.

Added Zin: With a new system, from this point on, I believe we’ll be able to make newer and more in depth games.”

From owns the fights to the Dark Souls IP.
