Dead Space Ignition coming to XBLA

EA has announced a new downloadable Dead Space game that will bridge the gap between the 2008 original and next year’s Dead Space 2.

Dead Space Ignition will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network this autumn, and challenges players to survive the initial Necromorph outbreak. It is being developed by Sheffield’s Sumo Digital – the same firm that made Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing and Doctor Who: The Adventure Games.

Gamers will be able to take part in an interactive comic-style story with three puzzle-based mini-games. There are four different endings that will unlock extras for players to use in Dead Space 2, including an exclusive suit for the game’s protagonist Isaac Clarke.

Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2,” said EA’s executive producer for Dead Space Steve Papoutsis.

The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, and will also introduce the storyline to a brand new audience of gamers.”

Dead Space 2 hits shelves on January 25th 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The downloadable prequel arrives this autumn.
