Def Jam to sign top talent on Rapstar

Def Jam Records has said it will sign the best talent found online using Konami’s upcoming hip hop karaoke title Def Jam Rapstar.

The game – due for release on November 5th – features a freestyle mode that allows users to rap along to popular tracks from big name hip hop producers such as DJ Premier and Just Blaze.

Players can record their own performances using a webcam and upload their videos to an online community. The best artists will be scouted and signed by Def Jam Records which currently has Method Man, Redman and more on its books. The pair performed at Konami’s E3 booth earlier this week.

Konami’s microphone-compatible music title also allows players to rap along to more than 40 popular hip hop tracks, including Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Fix Up, Look Sharp,’ Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’ and 2 Pac’s ‘I Get Around’.

Def Jam Rapstar will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii on November 5th.
