Devil’s Third is getting a free-to-play PC release

We’re already getting accustomed to Nintendo publishing on smartphones – now a Nintendo title is coming to PC.

Developer Valhalla has confirmed that Devil’s Third is to receive a free-to-play PC release by prior agreement with Nintendo”, with a September release date scheduled. Nintendo will not be the publisher, however.

In consideration of cultural characteristics in each region, the content is being optimized via co-development with local publishers,” Valhalla CEO Satoshi Kanematsu said. Service territories and the details of game content will be announced accordingly.”

Before this, the game will hit Wii U next month – and despite rumours online to the contrary it has been confirmed that Nintendo will indeed be publishing the title in North America, just as it is in other regions.

Even this far ahead of release Devil’s Third has found itself coming in for a bit of slack, with creator Tomonobu Itagaki involved in a passive to-and-fro with journalists after the game was largely mauled in previews.
