Disc release confirmed for NBA Jam?

NBA Jam is likely to be coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 via disc rather than download.

A GameFly listing shows the game will be available as part of the US firm’s disc rental service. EA has also confirmed that NBA Jam will be available by Christmas.

Speaking to Kotaku, an EA spokesperson said: The development team is working hard on NBA Jam on Xbox 360 and PS3 to get it finished in time for the holidays. We are not prepared to make any announcements at this time buy we should have some exciting news to share very soon.”

The Wii game’s content – specifically the Play Now, Classic Campaign and Online modes – was originally going to be made available on rival consoles with a one-time download code given to anyone who bought NBA Elite 11.

When EA announced that Elite 11 had been delayed, the publisher confirmed a standalone release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Jam. However, this is the first indication that this will be a retail SKU, not a digital one.
