E32011: COD Elite beta kicks off in July

The public beta for Call of Duty: Elite is expected to go live on July 14th.

Activision has announced the beta will be by invitation only, and will not feature the full services of Elite. Instead, it will give selected COD fans a taste of the experience” and will be integrated into the Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer.

Call of Duty Elite is a new social network-style service aimed at the franchise’s community. It allows players to explore their aggregated multiplayer stats across several COD titles, form groups and clans and take part in multiplayer competitions.

Elite will launch in November with Modern Warfare 3. In the five days since its announcement, more than one million people have registered to take part in the beta.

The date for the public beta was revealed as Activision announced its full E3 line-up.
