EA: Battlefield 3 dated

At its E3 press conference last night publisher EA confirmed what we had suspected – that Battlefield 3 is to beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to market.

The game will be released in the UK on October 28th, three days after it arrives in the US on October 25th. That’s a full two weeks before Activision’s title hits the market.

The audience last night were greeted to some frankly astonishing in-game footage, which can be seen below. The branding of the Frostbite 2 engine that powers it was everywhere to be seen.

EA also confirmed a social service for the game called Battlelog which, for all intense and purposes, is the exact equivalent of Call of Duty Elite. That Battlelog will be free is a soundbite that was repeated several times in the presentation.

Furthermore, a beta of the game will kick off in September.
