EA fronts iPads games push

The lofty job of presenting the iPad’s games credentials to the world was handed to EA tonight, with exec Travis Boatman taking to the stage to show off an iPad build of popular racer Need for Speed.

Though iPad games will be fundamentally the same as those found on iPhone, developers are free to produce iPad-enhanced titles – as was demonstrated by the colourful, hi-res racer.

The demo shown on stage differed from the iPhone version in that it made greater use of the extra screen space, with users able to tap the car and access the cockpit view. Tapping the rear view mirrored allows racers to check out the chasing pack.

Boatman promised that EA would be revealing more about its iPad lineup soon.
