EA launches Take 2 acquisition website

As part of its

freshly announced intentions

to snap up Rockstar (and thus Grand Theft Auto) owner Take 2, EA has launched a

new website

dedicated exclusively to the news.

The main text of the open letter from EA CEO John Riccitillo can be found here.

Elsewhere on the site, an interesting FAQ section offers some further detail on EA’s intention. Stating that the publisher has enormous respect for the creative teams at Take 2”.

After stressing that the proposal has been left until now so as to not disrupt the development of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, Riccitiello points out that the two companies have been discussing the issue on and off for over a year.

In addition he believes that Rockstar would be happy under the EA umbrella, stating: We have great respect for the Rockstar leadership team and some of our executives have worked with Rockstar leaders while in previous positions with other companies. We believe EA’s decentralized label organization will be attractive to Take 2’s creative talent.”

However, he does refuse to comment on the proposed future of Take 2’s existing publishing labels and brands such as 2K Sports, the possibility of job losses or the future of specific Rockstar or Take 2 franchises.

For those who’ve missed today’s big story, EA has publicly stated its intention to acquire Take 2, making public a letter from EA CEO John Riccitiello to Take 2 executive chairman Strauss Zelnick. Take 2, however, has said that the current offer is inadequate, and that it will consider nothing until after Grand Theft Auto IV hits stores on April 29th.
