EA opens Star Wars focused DICE office in LA

A brand new office is being opened in LA specifically to work on Star Wars titles.

It comes as a result of EA’s decision to acquire the Star Wars licence from Disney.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the new outfit will be run by Battlefield creators DICE, but won’t be a development studio per se – instead it will be focused on recruiting talent” for DICE’s upcoming Star Wars games.

Indeed, this theory is backed up by the confirmation from DICE GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson who said that DICE is looking at either creating an entirely new experience or piggybacking on an older Star Wars game series".

Troedsson also expressed DICE’s need to spread its wings” after the success of Battlefield and is also open to the possibility of poaching staff from rival studios in the area.
