EA planning Command & Conquer FPS?

Though publisher EA has reportedly declined to comment on the speculation,

internet wordsmiths

are claiming that next month’s edition of US games mag Game Informer has the scoop on an upcoming first person shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe named Tiberium.

The source suggests that the game is set 11 years after the end of the third Tiberium war, and takes the form of a squad-based shooter instead of the series’ traditional RTS approach.

It wouldn’t be the first time the franchise has strayed into FPS territory. Cast your mind back to 2002 and the release of PC title Command & Conquer: Renegade – though the that hybrid first/third-person shooter didn’t go down especially well with critics.
