ECS CS:GO league returns for season two

The Esports Championship Series is set to return for its second season in October, with open qualifiers for the league taking place next month.

The competition, which is a partnership between FACEIT and Twitch, just wrapped up its first season at Wembley Arena, but plans for the next event have already been announced. For the first time there will be open qualifiers for the competition that will give everyone a shot at the big money. The first of these qualifiers begins on August 5th, with the last ending on August 27th.

Winning an qualifier will earn a spot in the developmental league, a weekly competition that will feature open qualifier winners and four invited teams. The top two teams from the developmental league will then face the bottom two teams from the ECS league, with the winner of each match earning a spot in the main event. The developmental league will have weekly matches, and will run from September 9th through to September 27th.

Once the teams for the second season of ECS have been decided the main action will kick off on October 7th, and run through to November 13th. The LAN finals will then take place between December 8th and 11th.

The open qualifiers will provide new teams the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world and join our top CS:GO esports league,” said Michele Attisani, CBO of FACEIT. It’s our goal to provide new teams a chance to be recognized in the community and become stars, while providing current ECS teams a fresh pool of talent to test their skills against.”
