Epic Games has released the Fortnite Data API, making its metrics publicly accessible

Epic Games has launched the Fortnite Data API, making additional engagement and retention metrics for games like Fortnite Battle Royale available to third-party UEFN creators and companies.

The API provides access to data on individual island performance, including:

  • Minutes Played: Total minutes played by all players
  • Minutes per Player: Average total minutes per unique player
  • Plays: Number of game sessions played
  • Favourites: Number of times players favourited the island
  • Recommends: Number of times players recommended the island (previously “Likes”)
  • Peak CCU: Peak concurrent player count
  • Unique Players: Number of distinct players
  • Retention D1: Day-over-day retention
  • Retention D7: Week-over-week retention

At present the only data available is for Epic-made experiences (that’s games like Fortnite Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival and LEGO Fortnite) but it will expand on June 9, 2025 to include all creator-made islands as well.

Epic says the hope is that making the ecosystem more open will help developers to “make data-driven decisions” as they “build, launch, and grow” their games, and has also confirmed that third-party platforms can also freely use the Fortnite Data API to develop their own visualizations and analytical insight tools for the game/platform as well.

If you’d like to learn more about the Fortnite Data API, you can find its documentation here.
