ESPN to air live Heroes of the Storm finals this weekend in the US

eSports will take another big step this weekend when a competition final will be aired live on US cable TV.

Blizzard has announced that the grand finals of its Heroes of the Dorm MOBA tournament will be screened by ESPN2 on Sunday night (April 26th). The channel will show the final showdown featuring the winners of the semis taking place earlier that day, which itself will be screen on online channel ESPN3.com.

The semis, incidentally, will see Arizona State face off against Boston College and Illinois Urbana-Champaign play Cal Berkeley.

As reported last month, this will be the first time ESPN has broadcast a collegiate eSports event.

The sports network has made lots of noise about expanding its eSports content and was last year rumoured to be in talks with MLG following the success of Dota 2’s The International event on ESPN3.com.
