JAPAN: DSi sales pass 2m

Ahead of the release of the DSi in Europe and America early next month, Nintendo’s rejigged dual screen handheld has now passed the 2m unit sales barrier in its homeland of Japan.

The news comes from Japanese games weekly Famitsu, courtesy of VG247.

DSi hit the market in the Far East last November, and has to date in 2009 sold over 700,000 units. Of course, there’s a bigger story to the DSi, with its arrival being joined by Nintendo’s dedicated handheld store DSiWare.
