UK Software Sales Monitor: Market jumps to £17.6m

The weekly games software market value hit 17.6m this week – up 28 per cent over the 13.7m generated last week.

Game unit sales leapt 11 per cent to 687,610.

It’s the best performance for the boxed games industry in the past month, with Dead Island and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine debuting at No.1 and No.2 respectively.

Driver: San Francisco continued to sell well, dropping to No.3, while new PS3 release Resistance 3 reached No.4 and Star Fox 64 3D came in at No.9.

It’s a quieter week for new games next week, ahead of the big release of Microsoft’s Gears of War 3 on Tuesday, September 20th.
