Far Cry tipped for HD re-release

A listing on the ratings website of the Brazilian ratings board suggests that Ubisoft will shortly announce an HD re-release for Far Cry.

CVG spotted that the listing mentions versions for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. There’s no mention of a release date, and as the application was filed last November we shouldn’t necessarily expect an imminent reveal.

Far Cry was released on PC in 2004 and was at the time the benchmark of high-end PC gaming – both in a visual sense and in pioneering the open-world shooter genre.

Although the team behind the game went on to concentrate on the similarly themed Crysis series, Ubisoft pressed on with the Far Cry series and last year released the critically and commercially successful Far Cry 3.
