EA is celebrating a dual Christmas triumph – after FIFA 09 took the
in the All Formats chart and sailed past two million UK sales.
The title returned to the top of the GFK-ChartTrack/ELSPA All Formats Top 40 this week, following a post-Christmas sales jump – and some strategic price promotions at retail.
EA UK marketing manager Dan Holman told MCV: The studio created a game that appeals to everyone. We’ve listened to our consumers and delivered the game they wanted with rich gameplay and innovation.
"We had a couple of well-timed promotions in place in the run-up to Christmas, but, more importantly, we’ve made an exceptional football game this year which has sold incredible numbers week on week since release.
We have now sold in excess of two million in the UK making it the fastest selling FIFA title to date.”
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, Holman added: Sales are still very good and we’ll continue to market FIFA 09 throughout the remainder of the football season. We’re confident this will be the best-selling FIFA game to date but we still have some way to go.
We are continuing to work with several Premier and Football League teams so we’ll look to create initiatives around key matches.”
