FIFA World Cup game kicks off

With Fabio Capello’s England team targeting success at this summer’s World Cup, EA has officially announced its licensed video game tie-in – FIFA World Cup South Africa.

It will be released in Europe and Asia on April 30th for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PSP. The North American release date is April 27th.

The game features all of the 199 teams that took part in qualifying for the tournament as well as each of the ten South African stadiums set to host the matches in June.

Its most eye-catching feature is the brand new fully authentic online World Cup tournament, where players are squared up against competitors from each of 199 nations that took part in qualifying.

This allows those who support teams that did not qualify the chance to re-write the history books.

Other features include new situational tactics, while the altitude of the stadium will have a direct affect on both player fatigue and the flight of the ball.

The Wii game features a unique mode named Zakumi’s Dream Team that sees players facing off online, with the winner stealing a member of their rival’s squad. Teams can be transported via the Wii Remote for face-to-face challenges with friends.
