Free Russian version of Halo has been cancelled

Halo Online has not made it to release.

This free-to-play PC multiplayer version of Halo was set to be released exclusively for the Russian market later this year.

A member of Halo Online’s social media team says on Russian social network VK that they were waiting for news from Halo Online developers and hoping for an early announcement.” He adds: But over the past six months, our colleagues from Microsoft failed to make decisions on the future of the project. Now we know only one thing — the current form of the game will not be released."

Halo Online was currently in beta version and players now have until August 30th to claim compensation for their in-game rewards.

Microsoft commented the cancellation on Polygon: "The Halo Online closed beta test represented a great opportunity for us to learn how to deliver a great Halo experience to PC players.

"We recently concluded the closed beta and are grateful to all the players who participated in Russia. We look forward to applying the beta learnings to future Halo PC experiences."

Halo Online was announced back in March 2015 and co-developed by 343 Industries and Saber Interactive.
