[From the industry] FOVOTEC Opens Its Dynamic Projection Technology into Early Access for Game Developers

This is a press release posted in addition to our usual editorial content.

FOVO Technology Ltd. (FOVOTEC), a pioneer in advanced real-time rendering techniques, today announced that it is opening its Dynamic Projection technology into limited early access for game development studios. Dynamic Projection is a unique way to mimic the way humans see, creating an enhanced yet more naturalistic field of vision so that 3D games can run in ultra-wide fields of view at 60FPS in 4K with minimal distortion. The launch of the technology into early access marks the first opportunity for developers to integrate FOVOTEC’s technology into their development pipelines. Interested game developers can register at https://www.fovotec.com/early-access-program from today.

Today’s games are normally only able to render a scene with a horizontal field of view of between 90º and 110º. Anything beyond this distorts the image at the edges and makes everything in the middle appear very far away. Those distortions break immersion and make even the most carefully designed games feel wrong. Techniques to overcome these distortions have so far failed to maintain perceptual accuracy or have slowed the game’s framerate to an unplayable speed.

FOVOTEC’s Dynamic Projection is the first real-time rendering technology that solves this problem. Based on 10 years of published scientific research, Dynamic Projection allows 3D games to deliver more natural, human‑like fields of view (160-180º horizontally) without distortion, warping, or greatly slowing the game’s framerate. The result is a more natural and performative 3D visual gaming experience that mimics a person’s direct and peripheral vision. Dynamic Projection can be used with the Unreal and Unity game engines (and even custom game engines), making it simple to integrate into existing development pipelines.

“The way we see the world around us is very different to how screens display it, but until now we’ve had no way to replicate this in a way designers and developers can access,” said Robert Pepperell, co-founder and CEO of FOVOTEC. “With wider fields of view, games can now deliver greater visual realism, improved situational awareness, and a more natural sense of speed and motion, which ultimately elevates the overall gaming experience. Once gamers try it, they won’t want to go back.”

Early Access Program: What It Is and Who It’s For

  • Limited enrollment — To ensure a high-touch collaboration, only a small group of game studios will be invited onto the early access phase.

  • Flexible integration paths — Participating teams may integrate Dynamic Projection into engines and pipelines of their choice (Unity, Unreal, custom engines, etc.) at any time – even during production – with no rebuilds or reworks of the graphics necessary.

  • Technical support & feedback loop — FOVOTEC will provide engineers, documentation, sample projects, and regular check-ins to guide integration.

  • Stage-gated rollout — FOVOTEC will add more developers gradually to early access as it moves toward a public release.

Benefits to Participating Studios

  • First-mover advantage — Studios using Dynamic Projection early may differentiate their games with more immersive visual fidelity and innovative graphic techniques.

  • Influence future features — Direct access to FOVOTEC’s engineering team allows partners to request features, optimizations, or compatibility improvements aligned to their project’s needs.

  • Long-term licensing perks — Early access participants may be eligible for preferred licensing terms.

How to Apply

Game studios interested in joining the early access program may apply via FOVOTEC’s website at https://www.fovotec.com/early-access-program
