G2A introduces new seller verifications

Additional layers of security have been introduced to G2A.com, the key reseller has revealed.

Effective immediately, these steps ask that sellers verify social media profiles and provide a phone number. Sellers will be limited to ten sales before further proof of ID is required. New sellers will be required to verify credit cards, PayPal accounts and addresses, with these measure due ‘in the coming months’.

The site reckons these measures comply with the MSO (Money Service Operators) Anti Money Laundering guidelines, which incidentally stem from Hong Kong.

The retailer last week promised to share its profits with developers after its high-profile public spat with TinyBuild.

"G2A has an open door for feedback from the gaming community, developers, publishers and media," CEO Bartosz Skwarczek insisted. "Following the announcement of the G2A Game Developer Support System in June 2016, it became clear that a further added value will be to extend G2A’s front-end verification process for new sellers on our marketplace.

"G2A constantly improves the user experience on the marketplace in order to be as open, transparent and as safe as possible. We are happy that the gaming community gave us their feedback with regards to improving the G2A marketplace. We listen and react fast because nothing is more important to us than ensuring the security of our users."

G2A’s press release comes complete with glowing endorsements from Russia’s Datcroft Games, Bulgaria’s XS Software and Polish pair Farm 51 and Anshar Studios.
