GAME app can now scan game front covers

Users of GAME’s smartphone app are now able to scan the front covers of games in store to access information and discounts.

The new ‘Scan it!’ functionality uses a smartphone’s camera to view a game’s cover instead of scanning its barcode. It then offers a ‘personalised price’ depending on said user’s current Reward account balance and trade-in credit.

Once scanned a host of other information about the title is accessible, too, such as trailers and images.

Scan It! works with digital games sold on cards, too.

2,000 products will be compatible at launch with more being added over the coming months.

We are committed to giving our customers the best possible experience, so alongside great value, we’re excited to make shopping with us truly interactive by bringing their favourite games to life in front of their eyes,” GAME’s chief digital officer Ian Chambers.

Since the app launched two years ago, the trade-in calculator has been one of the most popular features, allowing people to unlock the value of products they already own to spend on new games and hardware in store. We will continue to develop our app to deliver an incredible experience to our gaming community.”
