Game Based Learning 2009 backed by industry heavyweights

Leading games industry figures have signed up to speak at next month’s Game Based Learning Conference.

Capitalising on the success of the Handheld Learning Conference, Game Based Learning (GBL) will evaluate all aspects of games in education, and will feature speeches from Atari founder Nolan Bushnell, Eidos co-founder Ian Livingstone and Codemasters chairman Chris Deering. Slitherine director Marco Minoli and ELSPA MD Michael Rawlinson are also set to contribute.

Having this dedicated event about video games, social media and learning means that the conference is entirely focused on this rapidly growing phenomenon,” explained conference director Graham Brown-Martin.

The games that people are using as part of their everyday enjoyment are far from dumbing them down. They can enhance the educational experience.”

Atari founder Nolan Bushnell added: If we can integrate games within learning across the curriculum we can make education engage children’s minds.”

MCV, Develop and CasualGaming.biz readers keen on attending GBL can enjoy an extra ten per cent off the early bird registration cost, which means a saving of 70 off the standard delegate registration fee. To receive the discount, simply use the code: intentgbl09 during registration.

Game Based Learning will take place at The Brewery in London between Thursday March 19th – 22nd.
