GAME invites fans to Old Republic launch event

Star Wars enthusiasts have been invited to GAME’s flagship Oxford Street branch for a special launch event.

The retailer will celebrate the release of EA and BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic tomorrow evening. While the game doesn’t officially go live until December 20th, GAME has told MCV it will be selling boxed copies of the game from Thursday, December 15th.

The Old Republic is already live for those who pre-ordered the game.

Crucially, this five-day headstart for retail puts the MMORPG in the running for Christmas No.1 in the GfK Chart-Track All Formats Charts. Under the original release date, the game would have been three days too late.

Special guests will be in attendance at tomorrow night’s event, including one of the game’s senior writer Alex Freed and Star Wars actor Warwick Davis. Fans will even be given the chance to win prizes and, of course, pick up a copy of the game.

The launch event is an invite-only affair, although GAME has been running competitions to give away more tickets to its loyal customers.
