Game4u extends digital service to Singapore, Malaysia

Games retailer Game4u has expanded the operations of its digital distribution service – downloads4u – to Singapore and Malaysia.

Through the service, Game4u will make its digital catalogue of over 700 PC and Mac games available to the two South-East Asian markets.

PC gaming is popular in South-East Asia and we have taken a big step towards achieving our vision by being the first Indian gaming e-retailer to set a digital download store in the region,” said Milestone Interactive Group chairman and CEO Jayont R Sharma.

Game4u will also extend the sales, promotions, and preorder campaigns that it offers in India to Singapore and Malaysia, and soon plans to make its Team Elite loyalty program available in the two countries as well.

The retailer is expecting a growth of over 100% year-on-year in the new markets, with a double-digit market share within the next three quarters. It also expects revenues of over $4 million over the next three years.

Milestone plans to expand further in the region, with operations in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia set to kick off within a year.

The move signals a change in Game4u’s expansionstrategy from physical stores in India to a digital marketplace the extends across borders. The retailer had initially planned to have 50 stores across India by 2014. There are currently 13 Game4u stores in the country.
